The American space Agency NASA has presented five-minute video telling about the most interesting regions of the moon and to see their virtual visualization in unprecedented high quality. As the creators of “excursions”, this is the most detailed video tour of this kind from existing today.
A frame from the video.
The video was created based on information collected interplanetary research station Lunar Reconnaissance Orbiter in 2009, when the spacecraft entered the orbit of the natural satellite of the Earth. The excursion starts on the Western border between the visible and dark side of the moon, where is the Eastern Sea. The lunar seas are called sections of the surface of the satellite on the Ground that are visible as dark spots — in the past it was believed that they do filled with water, although this was not so. The video demonstrates the features of gravity in this region — as it is reported, these data allow us on the Geology of the moon.
The next “attraction is the South pole of the moon, where was recorded one of the lowest temperatures in the Solar system. In the video “highlighted” places where, presumably, is water ice. After this part of the movie dedicated to Pool South pole — Aitken size is about the size of 2400 on the 2050 kilometers — the largest impact crater on the moon and one of the largest in the Solar system.
Also in the video mentions the crater Tycho, and visible even to the naked eye crater Aristarchus, as well as the landing mission of Apollo 17 and the North pole of the satellite.
The authors of the video representing the space flight Center name Goddard, noted that the moon is able to tell a lot about the Solar system as a whole.
In General, Internet users praised the video. Some considered it to view the occasion as a joke to recall the various conspiracy theories surrounding the history of the study of satellites, in particular, expressed dissatisfaction that the video is not shown to bases of aliens. Other authors of the review expressed regret that the moon is still not colonized people themselves.
