The Greek foreign Minister sent to Skopje to discuss the “Macedonian problem”

The Minister of foreign Affairs of Greece Nikos Kotzias will fly to Skopje, where he will discuss the so-called “Macedonian” issue, the question on the name of the former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia.

At the moment the Republic of Macedonia under its constitutional name recognized in over 120 countries, while the UN, the government comes under the temporary name “Former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia”.

For its part, the Greek government insists that the neighboring Republic changed its name, it will help to avoid confusion with the Greek region of Macedonia. Athens also believe that Skopje is pursuing a policy of irredentism, of attempting to reunite the territory with a divided nation within a single state.

Explained that the dispute, which has lasted for 30 years, prevents the admission of Macedonia in NATO and the European Union.
