“Dangerous provocation”: Poroshenko protested the visit of Putin to the Crimea on the eve of elections


The President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko said that Russian leader Vladimir Putin to Crimea is a dangerous provocation. The politician has once again promised to do everything possible so that the results of the voting in Crimea was not recognized by the international community.

“We have an extremely dangerous provocation today, when President Putin of Russia, right before the elections, deliberately going into the occupied territory, visiting Simferopol, Sevastopol,” — said the Ukrainian leader at a joint press conference with Austrian President, transfers “112 Ukraine”.

Poroshenko also promised that Ukraine will pay “great attention” to the fact that these elections were not recognized by the world, and those who are directly involved in their organization, was “brought to justice, including through the application of sanctions”.

Earlier, Poroshenko appealed to the countries “the Big seven” with a request not to recognize the elections in Crimea and to send international observers to monitor the electoral process.

Wednesday, March 14, Putin arrived in the Crimea and went to look at a bridge across the Kerch Strait, which is expected to be launched in may. Later, the President will participate in a campaign rally in Sevastopol.

The speaker of the Kremlin, Dmitry Peskov urged not to associate this event with the upcoming presidential election on March 18. “This is not an electoral event, it is a meeting that is not associated with the election of the President,” he said.
