According to Deputy foreign Minister of Ukraine Olena zerkal, the Belarusian side will not be able to participate in the peacekeeping mission in the territory of Donbass, because the state is in the Organization of collective security Treaty. While Minsk has repeatedly declared its readiness to participate in resolving the conflict in Eastern Ukraine.
As reported by Deputy Minister of foreign Affairs of Ukraine Elena zerkal, the Belarusian peacekeepers can take part in the UN mission on the territory of Donbass, as the country is a member of the CSTO. The President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko pointed out that Minsk is ready to take part in the settlement of the protracted crisis in the East of Ukraine, for example, through a peacekeeping mission.

While earlier, the Ukrainian President’s adviser and former NATO head Anders Fogh Rasmussen stressed that the peacekeeping mission in Ukraine will require about 20 thousand soldiers. According to him, their number must also include peacekeepers from countries that Russia trusts, for example, from Belarus.
Sending peacekeepers to Ukraine was supported by Russia’s President Vladimir Putin, in this case speech can go only about the security of OSCE personnel. Kiev authorities insist that peacekeepers should be placed in the whole territory of Donbass, taking control of border areas.
