The Supreme court rejected the claim of Violations of the withdrawal Putin election

The Supreme court granted the petition of the presidential candidate from “Civil initiatives” Ksenia Sobchak about the withdrawal of the candidature of Vladimir Putin for the race. The presenter argued that the nomination of Putin to the presidency contrary to the Constitution since he has held this position.

The Supreme court dismissed the complaint Sobchak, in which she demanded to cancel the registration of Vladimir Putin as the candidate on elections of the President of Russia, reports “Interfax”.

Thus, the Supreme court found no violation of law in the actions of the Central election Commission, and ruled unconstitutional the nomination of Putin for the presidency.

The representative of the Prosecutor General at the meeting in the Supreme court stressed that the administrative arguments of the plaintiff untenable. The Prosecutor stated that they “are based on erroneous interpretation of law.

Itself Ksenia said that her appeal is not directed personally “against Putin” and not relevant to the assessment of its activity on a post of the President of Russia, reported by the “Free news”.

According to the journalist, such a long stay of one person in power “harms long-term interests of Russia, hinders the normal political development and contrary to the requirements of its Constitution”.

Note that we are talking about the third part of article 81 of the basic law, according to which one and the same person cannot hold the office of the Russian President “more than two consecutive terms”. Vladimir Putin three times already was the head of the state – with a break for the presidency of Dmitry Medvedev – and now is again participating in the elections.

However, the journalist believes that the use of the word “consecutive” does not change the essence of the legal norm. “The current President has not merely been in power for two consecutive terms, but remained in power after that, through repeatedly recognized as a public agreement in 2011 with Russian President Dmitry Medvedev, who was again succeeded, in passing changing the term of government from four to six years,” said Sobchak in court.

Earlier, the head of LDPR Vladimir Zhirinovsky reminded his rival for the election that one of the authors of the current Constitution, including the words “consecutive” in the famous 81st article, was her father, Anatoly Sobchak.
