As reported on his page in Facebook the former President of Georgia, the leader of the Ukrainian party “new force” Mikhail Saakashvili, on February 14 he received in the Netherlands, identity card, allowing you to stay in the Schengen countries of the EU. “Today in Amsterdam, for the first time recently, I had the document proving the identity”, — the politician wrote. According to him, the whole process took a few minutes. He stressed that now “more than ever determined to reclaim their Ukrainian citizenship.” According to the newspaper NRC Next, the period of temporary stay of Saakashvili in the Netherlands is 90 days.
The lawyer Saakashvili Oscar Hamerstein said that the disgraced politician is planning to settle in Amsterdam, where his spouse, a citizen of the Netherlands, Sandra Roelofs. He added that the request to obtain temporary accommodation for the disgraced politician was filed at the end of last year.
Meanwhile, new details emerge deportation Saakashvili from Kiev restaurant straight to Poland. Ukrainian media have already reported that the ex-President of Georgia went to Poland not as a “mere mortal”, and on the plane, owned by Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko. However, Kiev called this message “primitive fake”. “This plane as far from Poroshenko, ex-President of Georgia from their homeland”, — wrote the head of the main Department of information policy of the presidential administration Vladimir Gorkovenko on his page in Facebook. However, the journalists noticed that the plane that brought Saakashvili, belongs to the Panamanian offshore — the same one that took the company’s money Poroshenko. So it is not so, the liner distant from the President of Ukraine.
While in Europe, Saakashvili remains the center of attention of the Ukrainian and world media. He relentlessly criticizes Ukrainian authorities, including the shifts the blame for “the death of Ukraine” on European leaders, because they are inactive, accused the President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko that he wanted to get rid of him “by unlawful taking and forcible expulsion from Ukraine”, and also I suspect the latter, in collusion with the President of Russia Vladimir Putin. Sent to Kiev, the politician says that he intends to return to Ukraine, where he will continue to “develop” his party and to fight corruption.
Experts interviewed by “MK”, believe that in case of return to Ukraine, Saakashvili may be extradited to Georgia.
Mikhail Pogrebinsky, Director of Kiev center of political researches and conflictology:
There is nothing surprising in the fact that he got the identity card in the Netherlands, given that it is home to his wife. I think that soon he will get the citizenship. Of course, he declares that he will return to Ukraine, but don’t know how he’s going to do it. The more that the Ukrainian authorities will be able to change his mind and extradite him to Georgia.
Vladimir Zharikhin, Deputy Director of the Institute of CIS countries:
— If he gets a Dutch passport, about the Ukrainian citizenship he could not dream that their legislation does not allow to have dual citizenship. The question is, can he ever return to Ukraine, he decides not to, as his American customers. And what will happen will depend on its partners. In addition, despite the absence of the visa regime, no one denies the existence of lists of individuals in Ukraine, where Saakashvili can be. In case of return of power can make the decision to give it to Georgia. But I think that Saakashvili won’t appear. His customers decided that he and his task right, and they warmed up the protest movement passed into the hands of Tymoshenko.
