Commenting on the publication of the Ministry of Finance of the United States the so-called “Kremlin report”, EU Ambassador to Russia Markus Ederer, in an interview with “Kommersant” said that the EU representatives will decide on enter against Russia new sanctions.

“I can only say that the European Union is a sovereign Union and its member countries will make their own decisions on whether to enter or not to enter those or other restrictions,” — said the publication of the diplomat.
Ederer noted that Americans have “a new tool”, giving them the right to impose sanctions “On combating the enemies of America by sanctions” (CAATSA), which was approved in August last year. EU Ambassador to Russia suggested that currently “too early to draw conclusions about” how it will be implemented.
The EU Ambassador stressed that Europe introduced restrictions against Russia are not an end in itself, and the need for the implementation of the Minsk agreements. According to him, just as it is their main task. Ederer informed that at this stage the European Union is the question of the introduction of “other sanctions”.
Speaking about the relations between the EU and Russia, the Ambassador noted that his concern is what happens in the world. From his point of view, the state does not build a friendly relationship and are “hybrid war or non-war, as it is called”.
“If we do not try to minimize the stemming of the current situation threats, the current period can be more dangerous than the cold war,” said Ederer. According to him, “nobody wants the return of the cold war.”
The U.S. Treasury published on January 30 a report in which were citizens of Russia, which, according to us authorities, close to the Kremlin. Part of the report was classified, and was only published a list of 210 people. The list includes, in particular, members of the government of the Russian Federation, the presidential administration, high-ranking officials and Russian businessmen.
Wednesday, February 14, head of the American Ministry of Finance Steven Mnuchin said that his Department is working on restrictions against “oligarchs” and government representatives from the list in the open part of the “Kremlin report.” In his opinion, the development of this document will serve as a starting point for the introduction of new sanctions against Russian citizens.
In the Kremlin after the publication of the report stated that the work of the U.S. government there are many unpredictable and contradictory. “We are dealing with a very unpredictable opponent”, — said the press Secretary of the President Dmitry Peskov.
