- US intelligence: the opposition can’t overthrow Assad
Director of national intelligence Daniel Coates, in his report for the congressional hearing, said that the rebel opposition in Syria, which lasts seven years, probably more are not able to overthrow Bashar al-Assad. Also, he said the Syrian opposition will not be able to eliminate the military behind the government army cap.
“The rebels will retain the resources to maintain the conflict at least in the nearest year”, – the report says Coates, is published on the website of the intelligence Committee of the U.S. Senate.
