US intelligence: Lukashenko plans to restore ties with the West

Director of national intelligence Daniel Coates, in his report for the congressional hearing noted that President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko will continue to maintain close cooperation with Moscow in the security sphere, but to strive to normalize relations with the West to contain Russia’s influence.

According to TASS, according to Coates Russia will prevent the rapprochement between Minsk and the West, as “considers Belarus as a critical buffer between itself and NATO.
