Russia remains the main coordinator of the fight against organized crime, terrorism and illicit drug trafficking in the former Soviet Union. Agreement between the government of the Russian Federation and the CIS on the conditions of stay in Russia a Bureau for coordination of fight against organized crime in the territory of States–participants of the CIS (BCBP) was signed on Tuesday, February 6 in Moscow.
The agreement on conditions of stay of BCBP on the territory of Russia on behalf of the government was entrusted to the head of the interior Ministry of the Russian Federation Vladimir Kolokoltsev. In his heads of CIS States was authorized on this mission the head of the interior Ministry of the Republic of Tajikistan Colonel-General of militia Ramazon Rahimzoda.
As recalled in the Russian security Ministry, this Treaty enshrines the legal status of the location of the Bureau on the territory of Russia and contributes to creating the necessary conditions for its activities.
BCBP is a permanent intergovernmental body designed to ensure effective cooperation of ministries of internal Affairs and government agencies of States–members of CIS in combating organized crime, terrorism, illicit trafficking in narcotic drugs, psychotropic substances and other dangerous types of crimes. The Bureau acts as the Secretariat of the Council of Ministers of internal Affairs of the States – participants of the CIS, the Ministry of internal Affairs of the Russian Federation.
