- The state Department has supported the protests in Iran against the wearing of the hijab
The U.S. state Department issued a statement condemning the arrests in Iran that occurred during the protests against the coercion of women to wear the hijab.
“The United States supports the Iranian people who are protesting against the fact that women were forced to wear the hijab”, — said the representative of the foreign Ministry Heather Nauert.
According to her, the detained protesters “Express their rights and fundamental freedoms”.
