On the way to the Mamayev Kurgan Putin saw “living pictures” on the road

February 2, the day of the 75th anniversary of the complete defeat of the Nazis at Stalingrad and the end of the Stalingrad operations, during which killed up to 1 million people, Putin met on the Mamaev Kurgan in Volgograd. He bowed to the fallen, called for a brand-new interactive Museum “Russia — my story” and met briefly with the rotor in the local Philharmonic. As explained “MK” pilots, Volgograd international airport, where it landed both sides — both presidential, and brought journalists — was one of the last footholds of the Germans in February 1943.

Under almost spring, warm sun Putin visited the Mamaev Kurgan, honored the memory of the heroes of the great Patriotic war, and then briefly turned to the Philharmonic, to communicate with modern Volgograd.

Paying tribute to the incredible courage the members of the legendary battle of Stalingrad, which entered the history of war as the most brutal and bloody, the President in his brief speech gradually transferred the bridge from those days to the present:

— The defenders of Stalingrad — the soldiers and the locals gave us a great legacy: love of country, willingness to defend it and work for its benefit, he said. And we should be on our fathers and grandfathers and to achieve even more than we have already achieved. Building on this Foundation, we will only go forward, be strong and honest!

In the program of the President was included and a recently opened interactive Museum “Russia — my story”. And on the way to it — “living pictures” in the form prescribed here and there of military equipment: aircraft, self-propelled guns, cannons and even field kitchens, and with them dressed in coats and earflaps that time soldiers.

However, particularly impressed with the new multimedia exhibition “the Names of soldiers ‘medallions”. Examine it — and it becomes clear why the number of missing in the war we have in the hundreds of thousands, if not millions.

Soviet soldier’s medallion of the great Patriotic war was a small plastic container where you put a piece of paper with a handwritten name of the owner. The safety of such a document is small: for comparison, German medallions stamped in metal circles engraved on them personal numbers of soldiers, and because now they are like new and very well read. Meanwhile, the inscription on the piece of paper ceases to read wow how fast! And is lost forever.

In addition, filled our soldiers their mortal medallions are extremely reluctant, it was considered a bad omen. And many, at first, still filling out, before the fight was to help them, smoked them, turning a cigarette. And received a German bullet for the Motherland forever remain nameless soldiers, and for your loved ones — missing.

However, life is life. And today, the Museum-reserve “battle of Stalingrad” there was a room for the same virtual quest. Is there anyone with special glasses can immerse yourself in the history of the battle of Stalingrad and even to feel like a member of the defense the world famous Home of Lieutenant Pavlov, who has survived the most difficult time, from autumn of 1942. I’d like to believe that this experience will always remain only virtual.

Moscow—Volgograd—Moscow.
