Scientists figured out how to fly from Moscow to Vladivostok for a half hour


Significantly reduce the time of flights between the extreme points of our country suggested by Russian scientists from MGTU im. Bauman and of KB. S. V. Ilyushin. They created the project of an aerospace transport system for the urgent delivery of passengers to a distance of 6400 km (the distance from Moscow to Vladivostok), just a half (!) hour’s. The development was recently presented at the scientific conference “Royal read” at MSTU.

Thereby achieving the claimed speed of up to 17 000 km/h (recall that a normal airplane flies at a speed of 800 km/h)? By getting an aircraft — glider in sparse layers of the atmosphere, in near space, where there is less friction.

In cosmoplayer, which is more like a flying saucer, fit up to five people — one pilot and three or four passengers. Not enough, but time from the capital to Vladivostok they will spend no more than by car from Moscow to Mytischi. The developers hope that at first aerospace flights will be useful for members of the government, big business who have a very compressed schedule, and the distances that must be overcome as quickly as possible, huge.

The details of the system developed, we told a leading specialist of the project of Ilyushin design Bureau Sergey BYKOVSKY:

— Our system, the total weight of which is only 48 tons, can be launched from a regular airfield. It consists of aircraft carrier (they can be existing Ilyushin Il-76TD or a new modification of the Il-76MD-90A), light single-stage booster and actually the glider. It all looks not quite normal: the power booster attached aircraft are inside the plane. At an altitude of 10 600 m Il resets “load”, after which the launch vehicle with glider on Board continues to rise higher, to the level of 79 km from Earth. Well, after again branch, and the airframe inertia reaches a maximum height of 97 km, which Is the so-called near space, where the air is thin so that it is possible to accelerate to huge, hypersonic speeds.

According to Bykov, the initial velocity of a hypersonic glider is 4.8 km/s (17 or 280 km/h or 16 Mach numbers). For comparison, the us hypersonic unmanned X-43 ramjet engine capable of a maximum speed of up to 3.2 km/s (11 520 km/h or 11 of Mach numbers).

— Our reusable glider, resembling a flat saucer, engines for maneuvering in the air — it flies by inertia, and descends on engines specifically designed to fit.

But the question is: how an ordinary person can withstand overload at hypersonic speeds?

— Overload protection up to 5 g if you will, is very short, 30-40 seconds, during the first dives into the dense layers of the atmosphere, — says Sergey. — The flight path is undulating, reminiscent of the flight of a flat stone thrown in the water. In the future, the overload will not exceed 3 g two times more than in conventional aircraft during takeoff. But on approaching the destination, the aircraft will include landing thrusters and smoothly land on top of any civil or military airfield.

By the way, the developers emphasize one more useful quality of life: due to its excellent aerodynamics it is in the case of any air attack can effectively evade enemy weapons, like the Federation ships in Star wars.

While the development is under consideration of the leadership of the KB, but the designers of the system believe that such transport of the future.
