According to the official representative of U.S. State Department’s Heather Nauert, the Polish law on the Holocaust may worsen relations between a number of countries. “Among our allies will have differences that will benefit only our opponents,” said she.
She also pointed that the implementation of this law may undermine the freedom of speech and academic discourse. “We urge the Polish authorities to revise the bill in light of its potential impact on the principles of freedom of speech and our effective partnerships,” added Neuert.
Earlier, the new Polish law, which introduces criminal liability for statement in the media of involvement of poles in the Holocaust, as well as the denial of the crimes of the Ukrainian Bandera, angered Israeli politicians.
