Washington urged Ankara to de-escalate in the North-West of Syria

The United States calls on Turkey to deescalate in the Syrian district of Afrin in connection with the carrying out of the Turkish armed forces military operation. This was stated by state Department spokesman Heather Nauert at a briefing for journalists.

Turkey is an important NATO ally. We fully understand the concern of Ankara with regards to various terrorist organizations. We understand their concerns about the PKK. We are in contact with the Turkish authorities on how to respond to this concern, but also trying to restore stability and encourage them to de-escalate,” – said the representative of the foreign Ministry.
