As told in an interview to “Radio “Freedom” the Director of repertoire planning of a network Silver Screen Anastasia Gurina, “until the issue is put on hold, and there is information that our (Belarusian — ed.), the Ministry of culture want to pre-watch a movie to make the decision. And we now urgently distributors decide how the tape record and show to the experts. They will decide whether to allow or not to allow to exhibit the movie in theaters. But first we have forbidden to sell tickets”.

“It seems that in Belarus the film also ban”, said Gurin.

According to the head of Department of cinematography of the Ministry of culture of the country Alexander Rydvan, grounds to ban the film may be only “extremism or propaganda of pornography, violence, violence against children. If our experts find some inconsistencies, of course we will ban”.

Recall that in Russia the film was released on 25 January, but at the last moment members of the Public Council under the Ministry of culture (Pavel Pozhigailo, Elena Drapeko and others) made a statement that he defiles the Soviet anthem, Marshal Zhukov, it depicted a jerk, and the tape as a whole “seeks to convince us that our country is horrible, and the people, and our rulers are fools”.

Somewhat differently interpreted revoking the license of the film, the Minister of culture Vladimir Medinsky said that the film is “offensive mockery of the Soviet past of the country that defeated fascism, the Soviet army and of ordinary people — and that the contrary, even the victims of Stalinism”. We will note that earlier the same Medinsky opened the bust of Stalin in the village of Khoroshevo Rzhevsky district.

In late November, Medinsky said that “Death Stalina” Smoking will not: “You just have to ban anything. On the contrary, we have a different position. We have freedom of speech.”
