Moldova demanded that Russia billions of dollars for the “occupation” of Transnistria


The Chairman of the Parliament of Moldova Andrian CANDU has accused Russia of violating international law and made a loud sensational statement about the intention of the Moldovan state to contact the United Nations and to demand that Moscow billions of dollars for the “occupation” of the unrecognized Transnistria, according to Latvijas Avize. The speaker of the Moldovan Parliament called Russian peacekeepers from the Transnistrian Moldovan Republic “occupying” forces that pose a threat to the national security of Moldova.

 

Senior Moldovan politician said that Moldova is going to appeal to an international law firm which will calculate the economic loss suffered by the country from the Russian military presence in Transnistria for over 25 years. According to CANDU, exposed Russia the account will be “measured in the billions of dollars.”

“Russia has placed its troops in Transnistria illegally, as in South Ossetia, Abkhazia, and Eastern Ukraine. We believe that about 2 million Russian soldiers in the region are the occupation forces. They organize joint exercises with the so-called army of Transnistria”, – said the candidate of the rigid position of the deputies of the Moldovan Parliament.

At the same time the speaker of Parliament of Moldova said about the desire of the official Chisinau to build with Moscow a respectful relationship, but stressed that unlike the “Pro-Russian” President Igor Dodon, he believes partners of Moldova, the European Union and the United States.

“As a Pro-European party, we do not want conflict with Russia, and relations based on mutual respect, to Russia interacted with us as equals, not as second or third grade,” said Kanda.

He also did not rule out the reckoning of the Russian “Soviet occupation”, calling it a “sensitive issue” for the Moldovan society, on which there is disagreement.

Earlier, the President of Transnistria Vadim Krasnoselsky said that after the withdrawal of Russian peacekeepers from the region there war might break out.
