Lavrov: Russia will not join Treaty banning nuclear weapons

Russia shares the goal of building a nuclear-free world, but it is not going to accede to the Treaty banning nuclear weapons (the NPT by), said the UN security Council, Russian foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov. He explained that this contract was based on unilateral methods and provokes disagreement between the members of the world community.

“We believe that the complete elimination of nuclear weapons is only possible in the context of General and complete disarmament”, – explained the position of Moscow with Lavrov. Thus, according to him, it must be equal security for all, including possessors of nuclear weapons as provided for by the Treaty on the nonproliferation of nuclear weapons.
