Petro Poroshenko told foreign diplomats that Ukraine is an effective guard against the revival of Russia’s Imperial ambitions. Moscow allegedly wants to return to the Square, in their “sphere of influence”, the politician believes.
The corresponding statement Poroshenko made a speech at the annual reception of foreign ambassadors, informs Agency UNN.
In his view, democratic, successful and independent Ukraine is the subject of Russia’s Imperial ambitions. Therefore, according to Poroshenko, the Kremlin cannot be trusted regardless of, “under what modes he disguised himself: tsarist, Communist, or pseudo-democratic.“
The Kremlin has repeatedly stressed that Russia is not a party to the conflict in the South-East of Ukraine. Crimea’s Moscow considers as the territory voluntarily joined Russia after a referendum in March 2014.
