Recall that the planes do not fly to Egypt for more than two years – all flights between the two countries, the Russian authorities banned after the explosion of the liner “Kogalymavia” over Sinai, which killed 224 people. The Russian side was waiting for the Egyptian authorities will be able to provide tourists with the necessary security, and our experts check Egyptian airports.
This situation strongly influenced the tourism industry, because until the termination of operations Egypt was the most popular tourist destination in Russia. So, according to Rosaviation, in 2015 from January to October, flights between Russia and Egypt were transported 4.4 million passengers. It was mostly a resort vacationers.
However, with the security of airports in the resort cities were obviously problems, talks about the opening of other areas to travel to Egypt scheduled for April and not the fact that they will soon lead to a positive result. Even now, many tourists asked the question: is it easy to get there via Cairo?
“Immediately after the appearance of this information, despite the holidays, we began to call tourists with questions about Egypt – told “MK” a representative of one of the tour operators. – But we have not yet opened the sale of tours and, most likely, do not do this until traffic is fully restored. From Cairo drive to the resort towns about seven to eight hours, so this option is not considered.”
Of course, you can consider the option of local flights from Cairo on the Egyptian resorts, but since he is again “connected” with the safety of the resort airports, it is unlikely.
It is worth noting that Russian tourists in the period of the ban of direct flights is still visited Egypt, arriving there through a third country. Cheaper it is to do it through Turkey or Belarus.
Member of the Russian Union of travel industry Victor Antilaw noted that the demand for Egypt is gradually increasing, although you can get there directly from Russia is impossible.
“It took us a fright after the crash of our plane, and tourists no longer afraid for their safety in Egypt, while comparing the number of Russians there now and a couple of years ago impossible. This is not comparable numbers,” – said the expert.
According to him, to resume the sale of tours to Egypt, tour operators will take maximum a couple of weeks.
“In Egypt the Russians are still waiting, many of the hotels are empty, and despite the fact that this area is popular among Europeans, our contingent made up a significant part of the guests of resort hotels, he stressed. – In addition to Russian, they could rely on Asian tourists, but this option was not justified excessive costs on flights for the tourists from Asia unattractive”.
According to experts, the opening of such areas as Cairo – the first step towards the full resumption of air links with Egypt and, therefore, the beginning of the sale of tours in this country, eagerly awaited by operators and vacationers.
