Elite shaken: how the verdict will affect Ulyukayev political system

The sentence of ex-Minister Ulyukayev has caused ambiguous reaction in the society. “MK” asked the experts, including former economy Minister of Russia Andrei Nechayev, to comment on the court decision.

Andrey NECHAEV, the Minister of economy of Russia in 1992-1993, Chairman of the party “Civil initiative”:

It is obvious that it is blown. Although I do not exclude this kind of relationship within our power elite. But in this story questions to Rosneft more than to Ulyukayev, from the amount of 2 million dollars. I think that Vladimir Vladimirovich has decided that an old friend is better than two new ones. Decided to show a vivid example of the fight against corruption. Now, really, this is the most spectacular precedent in recent years. But how will this affect the stability of the whole political structure, all of the Politburo in its narrow and expanded formats? I think that in the end will lower.

The term is tantamount to a death sentence: the speaker has taken in support of the ambulance

Ruslan GRINBERG, corresponding member scientific Director of the Institute of Economics:

– I have mixed feelings. It was too harsh for the speaker. Of course, this is a landmark event for Russia, because such a high-ranking person for the first time over the past quarter century has undergone such a punishment. It seems to me that there are personal moments in the ruling house, not just a decision related to the violation of the law. This leads to different thoughts. We can’t be happy with the decision, despite the fact that, apparently, there is clear evidence that the offense occurred.
