The Serbian government has awarded the speaker of the Federation Council Valentina Matvienko award of the Serbian “Karic Foundation” for strengthening democracy, peace, cooperation and friendship between peoples.

Speaking at the ceremony of awarding the prize, Matvienko recalled that the peoples of Russia and Serbia are United by centuries-old sincere friendship.

“This friendship is based on spiritual closeness, the unity of faith, understanding and support in difficult times… Russia remembers those who were around during the most severe trials.
