Russia vetoed a U.S. project to investigate the chemical attacks in Syria

The UN security Council extends the mandate of the mission to investigate the use of chemical weapons in Syria. The investigation should be completed at midnight on November 17.

Russia and the United States tried to offer their options, however, Moscow’s plan is not found sufficient support, and the plan of Washington, Moscow vetoed.

For the proposal voted China, Bolivia and Kazakhstan. For the United States — the 11 members of the security Council.

It is noteworthy that Moscow wanted to prolong the mission until may 16, 2018, and the experts were asked to reevaluate earlier findings and to take samples in Khan Sheyhun and shayrat air base. Americans, in turn, suggested to extend the mandate of 24 months, with the possibility of introduction of sanctions for use of chemical weapons.
