Russian passenger trains began to run in bypass Ukraine

The Ministry of Railways announced the launch of passenger trains on the railway section zhuravka-Millerovo passing through the territory of the Voronezh and Rostov regions, bypassing Ukraine. Two months ago on this stretch of road was opened to traffic for freight trains.

The first route zhuravka — Millerovo followed by passenger trains from Moscow and St. Petersburg in the city of Stavropol and Krasnodar territories, reports “Prime”.

Regular movement of freight trains on the new railway section bypassing Ukraine launched back on September 20. It was noted that the opening of the zhuravka-Millerovo serious blow to the budget of the Square, previously Moscow was annually transferred to Kiev, about $ 200 million for crossing its territory.

Construction of double track electrified railway line started in 2014, after the deterioration of relations between Russia and Ukraine. The total cost of the project amounted to about 55 billion rubles.

The zhuravka — Millerovo passes through the territory of the Voronezh and Rostov regions, its length is 137 km. The maximum speed of passenger trains through the area is 140 kilometers per hour, truck — 90 miles an hour. According to forecasts, the download this direction in the summer will be about 190 passenger and freight trains per day.
