The defeat of organized armed groups in Syria is almost completed, said Russian defense Minister Sergei Shoigu at a meeting with the head of the Israeli military establishment Avigdor Lieberman. On Tuesday, Shoigu met with Prime Minister of Israel. The meeting discussed, in addition to finishing off the terrorists on Syrian soil, and questions of the postwar future of Syria.

“We would like to discuss everything to do with Syria. Operation there is nearing completion. There are a few points which require discussion and decisions urgent”, – said Sergey Shoigu to the talks with Lieberman.
He also noted that Russia and Israel have a lot of questions in the field of joint struggle against international terrorism. “In the face of increasing terrorist activity in the world require the solidarity of the international community in combating this evil. Talks will help you better understand each other and will contribute to the strengthening of friendly relations between the armed forces of Russia and Israel.”
It is noteworthy that the Russian defense Minister held talks on the situation in Syria with Israeli counterpart. Especially given the fact that Israel is a tough political opponent of Iran, which has provided great support to our Armed forces in the strikes against terrorists of the Islamic state (organization banned in Russia).
“In the beginning of the armed conflict in Syria, Iran was a conductor of Russian interests, Moscow has largely relied on it. But due to the need to develop relations with other States of the middle East region and to eliminate the effects of terrorism, Russia needs to move away from Association with Iran.”
Lieberman stated during negotiations that “we will not interfere in the internal Affairs of Syria, but we will not allow Iran and Hezbollah to turn Syria into an Outpost against Israel and will not allow the transfer of high-tech weapons from Iran through Syria to Lebanon”. As suggested by the Mardas, tel-Aviv may require Moscow’s influence on Tehran in the event of his reluctance to reduce its presence in Syria. Actually, this is interested and Russia, the expert added. “There is mutual interest. Moscow does not intend to aggravate relations with Israel and the more we don’t need the outbreak of hostilities against Pro-Iranian groups in southern Syria. That may discredit the zone of de-escalation in the South, and after them may fall down and other such areas”.
With regard to relations of Russia and Iran, the Mardas not expect their cooling. “Since Russia defends Iran at the diplomatic level, including on its nuclear program, various roughnesses in relations between Moscow and Tehran will be lessened”.
