The Kremlin has responded to the US withdrawal from UNESCO

Press Secretary of the President of Russia Dmitry Peskov commented on the message that the United States declared its decision to withdraw from UNESCO.

“This is a sad news,” he told reporters.

The ex-permanent representative of Russia to UNESCO Eleonora Mitrofanova explained that the United States did not pay the organization in 2011, so they had to either restructure its debt or leave the organization.

“Nothing, UNESCO will be easier to work without them really. Any good organization they did not bring in recent years,” she said.
