The General staff of Ukraine: Russian military remained in Belarus after the exercises “West-2017”

The head of the General staff of Ukraine General of the army Viktor Muzhenko has accused Russia of placing their troops on the territory of Belarus. According to him, after the joint Russian-Belarusian exercises “West-2017” ago he returned to Russia, not all soldiers.

Ukraine has seen Russian troops on the territory of Belarus, left after the Russian-Belarusian exercises “West-2017”. This statement was made in an interview with Reuters the chief of the General staff of Ukraine General of the army Viktor Muzhenko.

After the exercises “West-2017” on the territory of Belarus remained “much more” of Russian troops and Russian military equipment, said Muzhenko.

“We have information that they withdrew only a few units, despite the fact that it was announced 12500 soldiers, of which 3000 were Russians,” — said the Ukrainian General.

While Muzhenko sure that the Russian side had deliberately understated the number of their soldiers in publication data.


Earlier, the Minister of defence of Lithuania Raimundas Karoblis accused Russia of “rehearsal of the attack” all the Baltic States — Lithuania, Latvia and Estonia — in the past at the September military exercises of Russia and Belarus “West-2017”.

It was also reported that the leadership of the Alliance intends to freeze Council Russia – the NATO in connection with large-scale military exercises held by Russia jointly with Belarus.
