Deputy Chairman of the Duma Committee on defence Yury Shvydkin sharply reacted to the words of the head of the General staff of Ukraine Viktor Muzhenko that Russia withdraw all troops not from Belarus after the exercise “Zapad-2017”.
“This is another stupid, nonsense and hysteria,” – said Switchin RT, commenting on the statement of Viktor Muzhenko.
He suggested that such statements made by the Ukrainian side with the aim “to raise since the hype around the exercise “Zapad-2017″, presenting Russia as an aggressor”.
Earlier MKRU reported that the Head of the General staff of Ukraine General of the army Viktor Muzhenko said that it has information that Russia withdrew from the territory of Belarus only a few units. He also said that Russia reported about three thousand of its troops from 12500 involved in the exercise, but believes that these numbers were underestimated and that in fact “they were much more”. He noted that the maneuvers, supposedly, were “offensive in nature”.
Earlier, the defense Ministry of Belarus said that in the observation of these teachings was attended by the representatives of seven States parties to the Vienna document 2011, including five of the countries-members of NATO. The selected senior of this group, the representative of Norway MS Hosted Ragnhild Valley, drew attention to the “openness and transparency of the Belarusian side during the organization and conduct of monitoring exercises “West-2017”.
