The U.S. Senate approved of Jon Huntsman as Ambassador to Russia

The upper house of the us Congress on Thursday approved of Jon Huntsman, U.S. Ambassador to Russia. Approval held under the simplified procedure at the end of the meeting. The huntsman has already said that waiting for the start of “the look”. Russian Ambassador to the USA Anatoly Antonov congratulated his colleague on his appointment.

According to the simplified procedure at the end of the session on Thursday the U.S. Senate approved the former Governor of Utah, the American Ambassador to Russia. Profile Committee of the upper house foreign Affairs had earlier supported the candidacy of Jon Huntsman unanimously.

Approved by legislators, the American Ambassador has already stated that “with impatience” waits for the start of work in the Russian capital. He wrote about this in his Twitter.

“I am honored to serve our great country as the U.S. Ambassador to Russia. Looking forward to joining the Embassy team in Moscow”, — says the publication.

The Russian Ambassador to the United States Anatoly Antonov congratulated Jon Huntsman with the statement.

“Congratulations to Jon Huntsman on his appointment to high and responsible post. I wish him success in rebuilding Russian-American relations”, — quotes RIA Novosti news Agency the words of the diplomat.

From 2009 to 2011, the huntsman, the decision of the ex-US President Barack Obama, served as U.S. Ambassador to China. Prior to that Jon huntsman worked for four years Governor of Utah, is characterized by conservatism among the other American States. During his work Utah entered the top three in terms of doing business.

In 1992, thirty-two year old age, the huntsman was appointed U.S. Ambassador to Singapore. However, he was recognized as the youngest U.S. Ambassador for the last century.

The new US Ambassador to Russia is included into number of American billionaires. Last year, Forbes business magazine estimated that the former Governor owns a fortune of one billion dollars.

The huntsman brings up seven children, is a Mormon and he served two years in the Mormon mission in Taiwan.

In 2012 he was one of the candidates from Respublikasi for the post of President of the United States, but urged supporters to support his distant cousin MITT Romney, who is also a Mormon.

It is known that he owns the Chinese language. He graduated from the University of Pennsylvania with a degree in international politics.
