The foreign Ministry said Mattis on accusations of Russia’s selling weapons to the Taliban

On the website of the Ministry of foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation there was a comment in connection with the response of the Pentagon John. The Mattis during a press conference in Kabul on 27 September to a provocative question about the alleged supplies of Russian weapons to the Taliban (organization banned in Russia).

The Russian foreign Ministry notes that the theme of the mythical Russian aid to militants of the Taliban Movement “not supported by any evidence.”

Foreign Ministry also stressed that those present at this press conference, the head of NATO Jens Stoltenberg has previously publicly stated that the Alliance has no such evidence.

“In this regard, we consider the more inappropriate any hints on the effects of assistance to terrorists”, – reads the statement of the foreign Ministry.

“One gets the impression that attempts by the US to smear Russia in the Afghan context have been taken to divert world attention from their numerous mistakes made in the course of a 16-year stay in Afghanistan”, – noted in comments.

The foreign Ministry also notes that the USA never answered to the questions of Russia about flying “unidentified” aircraft in the skies of Afghanistan in the interests of terrorist groups, despite the fact that this airspace is controlled by the US and NATO.
