The EU Ambassador in Russia Vygaudas Usackas, who earlier held the post of foreign Minister of Lithuania, told the TV channel “Rain” the story of his chance meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin, which occurred in the Elevator after one of the events. According to the diplomat, but him and Putin in the Elevator this time were only the head of the European Commission Jose Manuel Barroso and several members of security.
The Elevator went less than a minute, but during that time managed to establish a lively conversation on the relations of Russia and Lithuania. The conversation was “tough and complex”, said the diplomat, without a hint of sympathy.
According to Usackas, at some point, the Russian leader turned to him with a question: “What it is to me all the time drives?”. The diplomat asked, you are talking about. It turned out, Putin is referring to the President of Lithuania Dalia Grybauskaite. The EU Ambassador said the Russian head of state that, except “drive”, Lithuania has no other choice.
“Well, as you do not drive?! If you then threaten Ukraine, threaten Lithuania has already introduced sanctions against the Lithuanian exports of agricultural products… What else can we do?” — said Vygaudas Usackas Vladimir Putin.
Other details of the conversation, the diplomat reporters are not disclosed.
We will remind, at the last UN General Assembly in new York, the Russian delegation left the hall before the speech of the President of Lithuania Dalia Grybauskaite, who became the 14th consecutive speaker.
In his speech Grybauskaite said that the Russian-Belarusian exercises “West-2017” practiced scenario of an attack on a neighboring country.
