Putin discussed with Erdogan Kurdistan referendum in line with the Russian position

The press Secretary of the President Dmitry Peskov said that Vladimir Putin and Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan discussed the situation in connection with the established in Iraqi Kurdistan referendum on independence.

However, as reports TASS, Peskov said yesterday at a press conference Vladimir Putin said that Russia’s position in relation to Kurdistan are well known, it is consistent, and she was clearly articulated in a recent statement the Ministry of foreign Affairs.

“In line with this discussion happened,” – said Peskov.

Earlier in the statement the Russian foreign Ministry said that “Moscow respect the national aspirations of the Kurds”, but Moscow believes “it is critically important to avoid anything that risks further complicate and destabilize the middle East region”. Also, the Russian foreign Ministry said that remains unchanged “our support for the sovereignty, unity and territorial integrity of the friendly Iraq and other countries in the Middle East”.
