Russia expects progress in the upcoming talks on Syria in Geneva

Russia’s permanent representative to the UN, Vasily Nebenzia, commenting on the UN security Council previously announced the date for the next round of inter-Syrian negotiations, said that the Russian side expects from this meeting progress.

“The process in Astana has breathed new life into the inter-Syrian negotiations under the auspices of the United Nations… Geneva process, under the leadership of Staffan de Mistura has received a new impetus. We therefore look forward to the beginning of direct negotiations of the conflicting parties, which will lead to success the next Geneva round at the end of October,” he said.
