The head of the Council of Ministers of the USSR Ryzhkov was reassigned to the Federation Council birthday

The head of the USSR Council of Ministers Nikolai Ryzhkov on the eve of his birthday reappointed a member of the Federation Council from Belgorod region.

September 28, Ryzhov, born 1929, turns 88 years old. Since 2003, he is a Senator of the Federation Council, and before that 1995 was the Deputy of the State Duma.

As reported Thassa in the waiting room Ryzhkov, his powers were extended at the meeting of the Federation Council: “the Meeting was held today. All approved”. For the position of Senator was considered two candidates: the General Director of the company “Heritage” Valeria Sergacheva and the Deputy head of the Belgorod region, head of its Department of education Natalia Poluyanova.

Ryzhkov headed the Council of Ministers of the USSR in the last years of existence of the country – from 1985 to 1991. He cautiously supported the proposed Mikhail Gorbachev Perestroika, having in 1991 to become a candidate for the post of President of the USSR from the Communist party, but defeated with 16% of votes.

In the Federation Council, Ryzhkov is a member of the Federation Council Committee for Federative structure, regional policy, local government and Northern Affairs. 17 Mar 2014 he came under the sanctions of the European Union position on Ukraine.
