The first Deputy Chairman of the Federation Council Committee for security and defense Franz Klintsevich has responded to Washington’s intention to impose retaliatory measures in connection with the alleged failure of Moscow, the Treaty on open skies. Earlier it was reported that the us government can limit the flights of military aircraft Russia over the United States.
Klintsevich commented on the statement by the representative of the state Department, accusing Russia of violating the Treaty on open skies, under which States may make a flyby of the other’s territory to monitor military activities. The official said about response measures from the us authorities.
The MP believes that Washington is trying to provoke Russia. “This is a continuation of the policy of the tension, create conflict situations for far-fetched reasons,” he said in an interview with RT.
Klintsevich also advised Americans to pay more attention to the implementation of international treaties. “Russia is so scrupulous in their questions that never makes a step, not linking their actions with international law”, — said the Senator.
Recall that the newspaper the Wall Street Journal reported that the US is going to restrict observation flights of military aircraft Russia over the States of Alaska and Hawaii.
Such measures Washington intends to take in response to “obvious violation” by Russia of the Treaty on open skies, wrote the publication, citing unnamed senior state Department officials. According to the United States, restricted the terms of the contract, forbidding American aircraft to fly over the Kaliningrad region.
Commenting on these publications, the press Secretary of the President of Russia Dmitry Peskov advised Washington to claim strictly according to the contract. “Here there is hardly room for interpretations”, – said the representative of the Kremlin.
