The government of Russia has approved the candidacy of former German Chancellor Gerhard Schroeder to the post of Chairman of the Board of Directors of the company “Rosneft”. On Tuesday, September 26, reports “Interfax” citing a source familiar with the text of the document.
A spokesman said that the decision to charge Schroeder post in Rosneft is due to the fact that the latter is influential politician of world scale, which has consistently advocated the economic Union of Germany, Europe and Russia in the energy sector.
It is also noted that the former German Chancellor, has extensive experience as an independent Director in the largest Russian and international oil and gas companies, including as Chairman of the Board of Directors.
Currently, the post of head of the Board of Directors of “Rosneft” is Andrei Belousov. It is expected that candidate Schroeder will be approved at an extraordinary meeting of shareholders “Rosneft” on September 29 in St. Petersburg.
The company reports on the appointment of the former Chancellor had no immediate comment.
