The President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko during the meeting with canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau said one of the pressing issues on the global agenda on the lines of Donbass. With regards to the idea to place in the East of Ukraine peacekeeping mission, the Ukrainian leader spoke, once again, very categorical. “The Russian scenario” will not need a lot of peacekeepers, he said.

“The peacekeeping mission should be with a UN mandate and be placed on the entire territory of Donbas to the border between Ukraine and Russia, not to allow the troops, arms held in the occupied territory,” – said Poroshenko.
He recalled that in early 2015, Kiev proposed to place peacekeepers in the Donbass, however, the option is not “missed” Russia. Now, noted Poroshenko has a unique chance still implement this idea for all in solidarity with Ukraine countries. Thus, a peacekeeping mission must be executed on terms other than those offered by Moscow.
As is known, the Russian side insists on the deployment of peacekeepers on the contact line for the protection of the OSCE representatives, and partially in other areas during the inspection mission trips.
Kyiv seeks peacekeepers were distributed throughout the territory of Donbass. Strongly disagree the DNR and LC, which indicate the absence of the need to stay armed peacekeepers in areas under their control the regions where there are active hostilities. In particular, as was stated by the Plenipotentiary representative of the DND in the contact group Denis Pushilin, the idea of placing troops in the region makes one wonder about the hidden objectives that can be pursued, loyal to the Kiev state.
“History remembers what happened in Croatia, the Serbian Krajina, what was Yugoslavia, so for us this is not an option”, – stated the politician.
Differences Moscow and Kiev are about the legal aspects of the organization of the peacekeeping mission. Kiev requires the resolution to include the wording “operation to enforce peace”, Russia the Ukrainian authorities want to be called “aggressor”.
