Trump at a meeting with Poroshenko reiterated U.S. support for the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine and welcomed the country’s economic reforms. The American President advised his Ukrainian counterpart to continue to work hard to get rid of corruption, and strive to improve the business climate in Ukraine.
The administration of us President issued a statement following the meeting, Donald trump with Petro Poroshenko. Meeting of the heads of Ukraine and the United States took place in new York and lasted more than an hour.
The White house Donald trump discussed with the Ukrainian leader Petro Poroshenko on the settlement of the situation in the East of the country and the reforms. Trump also advised Poroshenko to continue efforts to combat corruption and to improve investment attractiveness of Ukraine.
“President trump welcomed the reforms in Ukraine, which contribute to economic growth and defence capabilities, and also invited President Poroshenko to continue to work to eradicate corruption and improve the business climate in the country”, – stated in the message a press-services of the trump.
The American head of state stressed support for the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine. The two leaders discussed ways to achieve peace in the region.
“President trump reiterated the support of the American party to the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine. Trump and Poroshenko discussed ways to achieve peace in the East of Ukraine”, – said in the White house.
Your comments following the meeting earlier was expressed by the President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko. Speaking about the negotiations, he stated that he received assurances of Washington’s support of Kiev’s position on location of UN peacekeepers in the Donbass.
“President trump assured that the United States fully supports the proposals of the Ukraine in 2015, regarding the deployment of UN peacekeepers with the mandate of the UN security Council on the territory of our country, including the uncontrolled section of the Ukrainian-Russian border”, – said Poroshenko.
