A former German intelligence officer will head the diplomatic mission of the EU in Russia in October

Became known, who will head the diplomatic mission of the EU in Russia is Markus Ederer, who previously worked in Federal intelligence service of Germany. It is expected that he will arrive in Moscow on 1 October.

On the appointment Ederer RIA Novosti reported belt chargé d’affaires of the EU delegation to Russia Sven-Olov Carlsson.

“This is Mr. Markus Ederer, he is the state Secretary of the German foreign Ministry, he was appointed, has received the consent from the Russian side, so he is expected to assume his duties in October,” – said the Agency interlocutor.

He added that the diplomat will start work as soon as possible.”

On the website of the German foreign Ministry has a page with a biography of the diplomat. According to her, he is in the diplomatic service since 1988.

Previously, he has worked in Russia, and also in Canada, China and Mongolia. From 2002 to 2005 he was head of Department of political and economic intelligence for the Federal intelligence service of Germany (BND).
