Ex-Chancellor recalled that Crimea was part of Russia from the XVIII century. “I predict that there will be the Russian President, who refuses to Crimea”, – he stressed.
He also criticized the policy of Berlin, which, according to him, alienated the two countries from each other. According to him, many Russians are frustrated by the actions of the German authorities, especially in terms of sanctions.
Separately, Schroeder criticized the dispatch of German soldiers to the Baltic States. The former Chancellor urged the current government of Germany is not to be guided in their actions by the interests of Washington.
Schroeder served as German Chancellor from 1998 to 2005. After he took the post of the head of Committee of shareholders North European Gas Pipeline Company — operator of the North European gas pipeline.
Former German Chancellor is in a friendly relationship with Russian President Vladimir Putin, for which he has repeatedly criticized in the West.
