In Primorsky Krai found Korean spies: they were hiding 20 thousand years

Invaders-parasites that have penetrated into the territory of Russia 20 thousand years ago and successfully hid until recently exposed domestic scientists. This is unprecedented in our waters kind of clam leeches Batracobdella kasmiana.

As reported by “MK” in the Northern Arctic Federal University, it was believed that these leeches that are classified as annelids, are widely distributed in Japan and China. In our rivers they are met. As it happens, solely because these parasites are well hid inside the shells of mussels and perlovits – large bivalves. Recently, studying these freshwater in the river Razdolnaya near Vladivostok and the Smooth river in the Khasan district of Primorsky Krai, biologists have discovered the insidious invaders. Each mollusk experts have counted up to 50 “Eastern” leeches. According to the discoverers, to the South of Primorye, this species could spread from the rivers of Japan, the Korean Peninsula or in northeast China during the glacial period (about 20 thousand years ago), when sea level was much lower, and the river basins of these regions could be reported.

Discovered species is quite dangerous to live there fauna and consequently, worsen the ecological situation, because shellfish — a good cleaner rivers and lakes.
