Expert: asymmetric response will force the US to abide by the INF Treaty

Corresponding member of the Russian Academy of missile and artillery Sciences, doctor of military Sciences Konstantin Sivkov commented that the Treaty on the elimination of intermediate-range and shorter-range broken by the U.S., said Russian foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov.

“Now the U.S. is spit on all the contracts that were signed earlier, and their break, to ensure its nuclear superiority over Russia,” – said the expert.

In his opinion, diplomatic steps will not change the policy of Washington in this matter.

“The only thing we can do is give an asymmetric response in the field of armaments, while remaining within the scope of the existing treaties. Variants of this response may be several, and they definitely will force Americans to sit at the table of negotiations”, – said Sivkov.

Before the press Secretary of the President Dmitry Peskov declared that Russia remains committed to obligations under the INF Treaty.
