The defense Ministry responded to the claims of Lithuania for the violation of borders by the Russian aircraft

The defense Ministry commented on the claims of the Lithuanian foreign Ministry about the alleged two-minute violation of its airspace by Russian military transport aircraft Il-76.

They reported that these aircraft on September 16 made a planned flight from the airfield of Taganrog (Rostov region) on the airfield Chernyakhovsk (Kaliningrad oblast) over neutral waters.

However, in the course of the flight have been identified storm front, threatening the safety of aircraft and crews.

After that, the leading crew of the aircraft a request was made in Vilnius on a forced deviation from the route to the border of Lithuania to bypass storm front.

“After obtaining permission from the Lithuanian side, the aircraft briefly took a detour and circled the dangerous area immediately returned to the main route,” – said in the message.

The defense Ministry added that no claims to the Russian crew from the Lithuanian authorities of air traffic control was not.

“We regard the claim of the Lithuanian side about the alleged willful infringement by the Russian planes of air space in the framework of the exercises “West-2017″ as a politicized and untrue,” reads the statement.
