Sands: the fate of the initiative on the peacekeepers in the Donbass depends on Ukraine and the USA

Press Secretary of the President Dmitry Peskov has called “not to dilute the essence of” Moscow’s proposal on placement of UN peacekeeping forces in the Donbass. The representative of the Kremlin noted that future initiatives will depend on the constructive position of Kiev and Washington.

Peskov said that the Russian region to hold the line on a worldwide search for a settlement of the conflict in Eastern Ukraine, but Kiev is unwilling to perform “those definite points”, which are set out in the Minsk agreements, reports TASS.

Answering the question whether Moscow’s concerns that plans to deploy peacekeepers can break the press Secretary of the President said that “now everything will depend on how constructive the position is Kiev and the United States of America.

A Kremlin spokesman urged “not to dilute the essence of the Russian proposal”, where we are talking about the UN mission, which is to ensure the safety of working in the conflict zone the OSCE.

Earlier it became known that the Russian version of the resolution on placement of UN peacekeeping forces in the Donbass in the next week will not be considered in connection with the adjustments you plan to make the United States and Ukraine. Russian representative to the UN Mr sebenza suggested that the Ukrainian side is preparing to introduce an alternative version of the document.

President Vladimir Putin previously said that he supports the idea of sending UN peacekeepers to Ukraine, but we can only talk about the function of ensuring the safety of OSCE staff. Kiev believes that the UN mission should have a broader mandate and be placed on the entire territory of Donbas up to the border with Russia.
