Merkel had persuaded Putin to expand the deployment of UN peacekeepers in the Donbass


Russian President Vladimir Putin agreed with the Council of German Chancellor Angela Merkel on location of UN peacekeepers in the Donbass. Initially, the Russian leader said that on the frontline they don’t have to go, now Moscow is ready to recognize the “blue helmets” have the right to protect the OSCE observers in their travel in the Donbass in line with Minsk agreements.

Talking about the peacekeepers in the East of Ukraine came in a telephone conversation, Putin and Merkel on Monday. As notes a press-service of the Kremlin, Putin has listened to the views of the interlocutor, and expressed willingness to lock in the proposed UN security Council resolution, the new role of peacekeepers.

It is noted that the UN mission will start work in the Donbass after the withdrawal of forces and means of both sides of the conflict.
