Former Russian Ambassador to the United States Sergey Kislyak, commenting on the difficult situation prevailing in the field of Russian-American relations, in particular, the recent scandal around the Russian diplomatic property, said that the Kremlin has a different response to the “unfriendly steps,” the White house.
In conversation with journalists of the newspaper “Izvestia” Sergei Kislyak said that the aggressive US policy against Russia has already become a system.
“At the present time, the United States commercially take steps against Russia, – said the former Ambassador, citing the example of the closure of the Consulate General of Russia in San Francisco. – This concerns the psychological state of the United States and the obsession of the American political class’s anti-Russian line”.
“Such actions of the White house is a blow not so much at the Russian diplomatic institutions how much interest ordinary Russians… Now hundreds of thousands of Russian citizens living and working on the West coast, you lose the opportunity to stay in contact with representatives of the Russian state”, – said Sergey Kislyak.
“Russian foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov was absolutely right about the need to carefully consider the situation. Sure… we will take some retaliatory action, the more options for that many,” said the diplomat, while expressing a regret that exists between the US and Russia confrontation.
“There are a lot of world problems, in which Moscow and Washington could cooperate on terrorism, religious intolerance and instability in some regions”, he said and regretted that “too agitated and electrified as the United States prevents cooperation.”
