Moscow offered Tokyo to build a bridge between Sakhalin and Japan

The Russian government invited Japan to consider the option of building a road-rail bridge between the Russian Sakhalin and Japanese island Hokkaido. This was during a session of the Eastern economic forum (WEF) said the first Deputy Prime Minister Igor Shuvalov.

“I want participants to know that we seriously offer to the Japanese partners to consider the possibility of building mixed transport, road-rail crossing from Hokkaido to the southern part of Sakhalin,” – quoted Shuvalov RIA Novosti.

Deputy Prime Minister added that Russia is already close to start his part of the work to bring to the Pacific coast railway.

“In this case, it will give additional opportunity to use our rail infrastructure, and Japan will be the continental power,” he added.

The forum to be held in Vladivostok for the third time. This year the participation of the President of Russia Vladimir Putin also among the guests to appear on UK Prime Minister Shinzo Abe and South Korean President moon Jae-In.
