The national nuclear security administration (noab) U.S. Department of energy in conjunction with the air force in early August conducted two tests of modifications of the B61 nuclear bomb. The exercises were held throughout the state Neavada.
The bomb was tested on August 8 at the landfill in the town of Tonopah, the website of nuab.
However, the bombs that were dropped from the F-15E was not equipped with nuclear warheads. It is noted that during the test was estimated non-nuclear bomb functions, and the ability of a fighter to deliver it to the right place.
B61 — the primary nuclear weapon strategic nuclear forces of the United States. It was developed in the late 60-ies. The length of the bomb is 3.58 meters, weight from 320 up to 500 kg.
