Zakharova accused Washington of “genocide” of Russians because of the complexity of visa issuance

Official representative of Russian foreign Ministry Maria Zakharova criticized Washington’s decision to reduce visa procedures in Russia. “This is some kind of genocide of ordinary people,” she said.

In an interview with TV channel “Rain” Zakharova said that the US authorities have begun to tighten visa procedures, citizens of Russia long before Moscow demanded to reduce the staff of the us diplomatic mission in Russia.

According to her, the review period for a U.S. visa was increased from 10 to 50 days and about four to five months ago.

Recall, the US temporarily suspended the issuance neimigratsionnaya visas to Russians until 1 September. From September 1, visa issuance will be carried out only at the U.S. Embassy in Moscow, whereas previously they were at the consulates in Saint-Petersburg, Yekaterinburg and Vladivostok. In addition, significantly increase the period for consideration of applications.

In the United States explained this decision by the lack of hands due to the downsizing of the diplomatic mission, which was produced at the request of the Russian authorities.

Earlier, Zakharova said that Moscow will not “retaliate” Americans for visa restrictions.
