Special envoy of the us state Department, Kurt Volker, in an interview to Ukrainian TV channel said that the Pentagon chief, who visited the country during the independence Day celebration, brought defence equipment for the Armed forces of Ukraine. Walker noted that the defense Ministers rarely come empty handed.
“I agree that Ministers of defense do not come with empty hands. The Minister of defence brought a certain defence equipment for the Ukrainian army”, — said the representative of the state Department.
In his opinion, Western countries should be ready for any eventuality, including military aggression. Such concerns among American policy originated from the Russian-Belarusian military exercises “West-2017”. Amid the maneuvers of the Western countries should work together to develop joint security, said Walker.
“I think that these military exercises of Russia forced us to be ready for any military aggression, the Western community should be ready for any eventuality, we have to develop our own security system and work on it together,” said the special representative.
The Minister of defence James Mattis said earlier that he intends to present the us administration’s recommendations on the transfer of lethal weapons to Ukraine. Its findings with the leadership of the United States, the Pentagon planned to share the results of his visit.
In a television interview, the US special envoy to Ukraine Kurt Volker also said the United States recommends that Ukraine remain within the framework of the Budapest Memorandum. Washington believes that the recovery of nuclear weapons will not be a good solution, and warned Kiev from this step.
